On facebook
Long, long time ago, boy heard of this new networking site called facebook from a friend, who insisted it deserved to be crowned 'Web Invention of the Year'. Boy thought it was just another copycat Friendster website, so he didn't bother with it. After all, boy's friendster account has been left sitting there for months, & there was not even a slight urge to update it, so why waste time on creating another somewhere else??
Boy continued to receive invitations to join facebook, u know, those messages that ppl send out to their contacts in order to add them straight to the friends' list initially. That elicited zero response, until recently when boy received the request once again from a long-lost friend, & this time he was persuaded. Boy signed up, expecting another Friendster interface, & he was shocked to see how different it was from those sites back then! It must have been more than a year since he touched his Friendster account, & although it might be different now, it can't be better than what facebook is offering!
Boy has been pretty much staring at the computer screen for the past few hours, trying to understand the mechanism behind facebook ie. how to send prezzies, etc etc. What amazes boy further is the fact that everything is so user-friendly, with drag columns & self-explanatory functions, although there is a confusing array of features waiting to be explored. That said, boy finally understands a report that he read a few weeks ago on how facebook has cost businesses some $5 billion in lost productivity!
Boy is wondering when the novelty will wear off, but judging by the time he spent on it today, it isn't likely to come anytime soon =)
