I've been back for a week now from my short biz trip to Surabaya, where everything seems really, well, let's just say it's definitely not to my taste. The filthy air from the factory pollution, the non-existent public transport & leisure outlets, & the less-than-impressive CBD area aka city centre. All in all, not something I'd expect from the 2nd largest city in Indonesia, although it might be because that I had such a great time in Jakarta previously that I've come to expect much of this place as well.
Anws, biz negotiations went well, although nothing is concluded at the moment, but it's a real step forward to starting my new plan. Still in the process of making plans & finding out viability, & my estimation that it should be all done within a mth. Oh yeah, talkin' abt negotiation, it was definitely my 1st time being in the swanky 5* business meeting room @ Marriott, & I was dressed really inappropiately for the occassion (polo shirt with jeans & adidas sneakers!). Determined to make amends, I had to go fully dressed up in biz attire the next morning! haha the host didn't seem to mind tho, & invited us to Marriott's breakie (which I hav to admit was rather simple, considering the hefty USD 30/head charge!). I ended up munching only a tiny muffin (a rather expensive one, if u ask me =) as I was too busy explaining the details to the buyer.
Had really little sleep for the 90 hours I was there, & fell sick the moment we flew back to Batam. Oh yeah did I mention that I couldn't even find decent internet connection anywhere in Surabaya?? Novotel, where we stayed, offered wireless connection, but it was really slow, & all those 'warnets' (internet booths) had 56k connection shared between a hundred computers, literally! Took me 1/2 hr to send out an email, and God knows how long it'll take to send out the pics I took there!
Oh yeah just before I forget, I've gotta apologize here to someone who requested that I post up a notice on where I'm going. Well as you can read above, internet connection was a luxury back in Surabaya, & I'd doze off before it gets posted! So, my humblest apology again =)
